YOUNG PERFORMER AUDITIONS

First Stage is the nation’s leader in age-appropriate casting. As such, we can’t do plays without amazing young performers! Each year, we audition over 500 young performers for between 150-180 roles throughout the season.

You can audition for First Stage plays in one of two ways:

GENERAL AUDITIONS for Young Performers will take place:

  • Tuesday, June 27 and Wednesday, June 28 (COMPLETED)
  • Tuesday, August 1 and Wednesday, August 2 (COMPLETED)

For GENERAL AUDITIONS, we ask for a 1-minute memorized monologue, and a 30-60 second song. The audition takes about 30 minutes and the directors are encouraging and lead you through some exercises and improvisations. They are group auditions with 7 other young performers. We cast young performers from ages 8-18 as those are the ages of the roles that we look for.

CALLBACK AUDITIONS for the 2017-2018 season will take place in May and September. Callbacks are by invitation only and are for those young performers who were cast or called back for a show last year, and for those who are called back out of the General Auditions.

For CALLBACKS, you will be invited to any number of callbacks and be given material from the show to prepare.
